We Care for Planet and People

Almost everybody knows TOI TOI & DIXI and many have already used our products and services personally at events, in the working environment, in parks or at a swimming lake. We have made it our business that this can happen in an increasingly resource-saving and hygienic way. Quality, the careful use of resources and the environmental compatibility of processes along the service delivery chain are therefore central components of our concept for success. Ultimately, however, the decisive factor for the success of our business model is first and foremost our many colleagues. We are an agile company that is available to our customers 24/7, and we can only achieve this with a motivated team. This self-image shapes our corporate culture and impacts the achievement of our sustainability goals. We want to be an open and good employer that does not stand still, but where there are constant development opportunities for employees.

From fishing net to toilet cabin

1. collect fishing nets - prevent illegal disposal in the ocean.

We take action before discarded fishing gear ends up in the ocean, preventing its illegal disposal. To this end, we collect the discarded nets and ropes directly in the ports.

2. upcycling - generating raw materials from waste

We generate raw materials from waste by processing the collected fishing nets into granules. This reduces the need for new raw materials, relieves the environment and gives value to discarded fishing gear.

3. turn old into new - the new DIXI® GREEN toilet cabin.

We process the granules into new sea-green toilet cabins at our own production facility in Germany. These consist of approx. 50 % recycled material, at least 30 % recycled fishing gear.

More than just a green toilet cabin

Sustainability at TOI TOI & DIXI

We continuously optimize our processes, products and services in terms of economic, social and environmental sustainability. For example, by using recycled materials, as in the DIXI® GREEN. These example projects show how we intend to implement sustainability in our services and products:

The new DIXI® GREEN combines sustainability with the highest standards of hygiene. With a hand wash basin including a 35 l fresh water tank, the paper towel dispenser and the soap dispenser, it creates the conditions for hand hygiene on the construction site, at events or during harvesting. The entire forearm can be washed in the large hand wash basins: DIXI® GREEN can be used wherever mobile toilet cabins are needed.

The most important benefits at a glance:

  • consists of 50% recycled material
  • at least 30% made of recycled fishing gear
  • hand wash basin with 35 L fresh water tank
  • soap dispenser and paper towel dispenser
  • high user-friendliness due to ergonomic design
  • usable everywhere

FISHING NETS IN THE OCEANS

Fishing nets in the oceans are not a new problem: Already in 2009, up to ten percent of the waste in the oceans worldwide consisted of so-called ghost nets - according to estimates by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). And the number is growing every day. This is because the stable nets take around 600 years to decompose and then enter our food chain as microplastics. For fish and other marine life, these nets pose a real threat for centuries. At the same time, a valuable resource is wasted that can be used for the manufacture of other products. A PROBLEM FOR HUMANS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

We at TOI TOI & DIXI have asked ourselves how we can contribute to improving this situation. Our goal: We want to prevent at least some of these nets from ending up in the oceans. To achieve this, we work with a partner to collect discarded fishing gear such as fishing nets, trawls and ropes directly from fishermen. After cleaning and sorting, they are upgraded to a high-quality composite material and returned to the cycle for the production of toilet cabins.
